Friday at Tennessee Pickwick Landing State Park

Friday, Ross took off again and we drove up to the Tennessee Pickwick  Landing State Park.  It's not far from the house, but has a couple swimming spots.  The kids like playing in the creek, but they miss actually swimming in our pool back home, so we thought this would be a good option.  The kids LOVED it.  Ross was agreeable.  My city-slickerness came out.  I dipped my feet in the water, but had no desire to wade (let alone swim) in river water with little fish, random plants and even a dead fish.  No, thank you.  The view from the picnic table was nice and the breeze felt good.  But there's a paper mill nearby and the wind was headed the wrong direction.  The air stunk!  The kids can not wait to return.  I'll need a little bit of time before I'm ready to head back. :)

On Friday night, Grandma and Grandpa watched the kids so that Ross and I could go on a dinner date.  We walked around dowtown Iuka and met a sweet older couple who filled us in on some Iuka history.  Then we ate at The Farmhouse Restaurant.  We had eaten there in November and it was yummy.  It still is!

  2. I heard about the “eventful” evening the ones at home had while you were on that date! Oh my.....such fun! 😬. You two JUST can’t leave home for an evening.....one gramma tries to burn down the house (Gen’s words!).....and the other ends up w/a sort of “flood” (not her fault at all, I realize)!! 😬😁

    1. Ha! There's always something. It's not just the grandmas either. A couple of dear friends have had to deal with random puke while we've been away, too. :(
