When Ross and I visited MS in November, we were able to worship at a small church. It was full of super friendly, sweet Christians and I have been looking forward to visiting with them again for months. However, no churches were meeting yesterday. (You know why and I don't really want to talk about it...)
So our family logged-on to the live-stream service of our church from back home. We are two hours ahead, so we were eating lunch while watching. At it just felt weird... and sad... and strange.
I can understand doing the best we can to keep our germs to ourselves, but not meeting together, bodily, on Sunday mornings to celebrate Christ's resurrection is hard for me.
One nice thing happened yesterday, though. We were able to meet our new next-door neighbor, Judy. She's a sweet older lady who was a school teacher for "a hundred years" so she enjoyed visiting with the kids and learning their names. Her house here is just a vacation home, so she will come and go, but it is nice to know that there is someone close by to help, if needed. Also, Judy has a delightful Southern accent. :)
