Happy, Hard Homeschooling

Some of you have asked about our homeschooling experience here in Mississippi.  I haven't written anything yet, because it is hard to filter through what I should say... I could easily write a whole blog on our homeschool journey!

For now, just a few notes and pics.
We are finishing up our school year in the next couple weeks. We started back in July.  (Here, you pronounce that Joo-lie). We have been journeying through the first half of American history and loved it.

Caleb is an awesome student and growing more and more independent in his reading and writing. He can multiply thousands times thousands but loathes it (because it takes so long...)

Gen is more of an auditory/ kinesthetic learner. Reading has taken longer with her, but it is coming along! She can't stand boring word lists - she wants context and substance in a book! She has been working on double digit addition this week- and loves it.

Vivian would much rather play with Titus than "do school" but is a deep thinker and makes lots of connections quickly and easily. We've been making sight word flash cards and she can't leave them plain. She is an artist and must illustrate!!

Titus just turned 5 and is eager for schoolwork. I can't imagine sending him away from home for 7 hours a day. I'm so glad we can learn together! We will begin slowly with numbers 0-20 and his letter sounds.

That was a lot of notes... I told you!
Here are the pics. :)
