We split our drive from Minneapolis to Ashland, Ohio into two days. We stayed at a great hotel in Schaumburg, Illinois and walked to Chick fil A for dinner that night.
It was so good to visit with Ross' aunts in Ashland! It's a small Christian-college town in northern Ohio. Many places are walkable and the town has a peaceful feeling all-around. A very relaxing part of the trip. (Well, except for dinnertime with Ezra- who seemed to have forgotten all his table manners...)
Some highlights from this visit:
- Visiting Phil and Geneva's graves
- Visiting the Shafer's on their farm south of town (where kids got to drive tractors and learn about ducking Jeeps)
- Celebrating Dorothy's 3rd birthday
- Grocery shopping and cooking alongside Judi
- A twilight trip to Brookside Park
- Walking to a local farmer's market
- Hours and hours of Legos and looking at books
- Ross, Gen and Viv's trip to a local candy store
- A mini-family reunion with some of Ross' cousins
- Visiting P&G's graves again - this time with hydrangeas and kids asking great questions about heaven and salvation.
